Creative Writing

​This course is designed to guide students in creative writing through experience in four genres: short story, poetry, script writing, and creative non-fiction. The course includes analysis of literary models (professional writings in each genre), individual and class criticism of work in a workshop mode, and lecture on and discussion of literary techniques in each genre.

10 pts. Extra Credit per submission

 

*You have the opportunity to analyze one of your classmates' work in your free time. You will receive 10 pts. extra credit for each analysis that you turn in. The rules and expectations are listed below. *

 

Rules:

  1. You may only analyze one piece of writing at a time and can only analyze that specific piece of writing once-- no repeats.

  2. Each time you analyze a piece of writing it must be from a different student in the class- once you have analyzed a piece from each student you may begin the order again.

  3. You must fill out the information in the boxes below to the fullest extent (meaning in depth analysis not one word generic answers), and attach a copy of the piece to this form.

  4. You can not exceed 20 pts. in a month-- meaning you can only analyze two pieces a month.

  5. You will meet with me during a work day prior to submitting your analysis to discuss the piece, and what you analyzed.
